SUMMARY OF MEETING – Wednesday 24th July 2024
- New SNT Police Team: The Hanger Hill Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) has new members, including PS James Last, PC Mussadiq Hussain, PC Trai Dale, and PCSO Mpho Nalder. Inspector Anil Sharma is now overseeing the team.
- Positive Police Results: Unmarked patrols and stop and searches have led to arrests and charges for handling stolen goods and going equipped. There have been notable decreases in residential burglary, theft of motor vehicles (TOMV), and theft from motor vehicles (TFMV).
- Gyratory Focus: Officers continue to patrol the gyratory to address begging and a group of males congregating in the Wickes car park. Anti-Social Behaviour warnings and Community Protection Warning have been issued to beggars, and the group of males received stern warnings.
- Motor Vehicle Offences Operation: A successful two-week operation targeting motor vehicle offences was conducted in May/June 2024, involving unmarked patrols and proactive stops. An arrest was made related to going equipped and handling stolen goods.
- Anti-Social Behaviour in Parks: Regular patrols in Hanger Hill Park and Montpellier Park are deterring Anti-Social Behaviour and drug use. Discarded drugs have been seized.
- Community Roadwatch: More volunteers are needed for Community Roadwatch to address speeding concerns. Speeding has been identified as an issue by residents, particularly along Madeley Road, Twyford Abbey Road, and around Princes Gardens.
- Engagement Activities: Officers have been conducting “Coffee with a Cop” meetings and attending community events like the Summer Fete at Montpellier Primary School.
- Ward Promises: The new ward promises focus on gyratory violence, violence against women and girls, ASB in Hanger Hill parks, and specific areas like Princes Gardens, Boileau Road, and the Hanger Hill Garden Estate.
- Boy Racers: PS Last outlined police actions, including the use of recent legislation allowing vehicle confiscation.
